Agriculture inverts the cash-flow shape of almost every other business. A row-crop producer spends heavily from February through June — seed, fertilizer, chemical, fuel, custom application, equipment repair, land rent — and then waits until October or later to convert a standing crop into money. In between there is no revenue, considerable risk, and a fixed cost structure that does not pause. Cattle operations run a different but equally demanding clock, with feed costs accumulating daily against a sale event months out. Dairies produce revenue continuously and absorb feed and input volatility continuously. Every one of these models is capital-intensive in a way that has nothing to do with whether the operation is well run.
The traditional ag credit system — Farm Credit associations, community banks, and input-supplier credit — works, but it works slowly and it works on collateral. It wants a mortgage on the ground, a blanket lien on machinery, a full balance sheet, and a loan committee that may meet monthly. For a producer farming rented acres, for a young operator without inherited land, or for an operation whose ground is already encumbered, that system frequently returns a no that has nothing to do with the quality of the farm. And a planting window does not wait for a committee. Legion underwrites deposits and operating history, requires no land collateral under $250K, and closes in a day or two.
What we fund inside an agricultural operation
Crop inputs ahead of planting — seed, fertilizer, chemical, and the pre-pay discounts that reward buying early when cash is scarcest. Fuel and custom application. Land rent, which is increasingly due in advance and in cash. Equipment acquisition and repair, including the transport, headers and implements, and precision-ag retrofits that make an older machine competitive. Livestock purchases — feeder cattle, replacement heifers, and the feed to carry them to weight. Feed and ration costs through a price spike. Irrigation, drainage tile, fencing, and other capital improvements that pay back over multiple seasons. Storage and handling — grain bins, dryers, and the on-farm capacity that lets you market on your schedule rather than at the elevator's harvest-time basis. Labor including H-2A costs, housing, and transportation. Cash-flow bridges through a delayed insurance settlement or a late payment from a buyer.
What we don't ask for
We don't require a mortgage on your ground. We don't file a blanket lien on your machinery for positions under $250K. We don't run hard credit pulls to check pricing. We don't ask for two years of tax returns or a full balance sheet with land valuations. We don't need your FSA paperwork or your crop insurance schedules to quote. We underwrite from bank statements, time in operation, and the rhythm of the operation.

Funds wire same day
Sign the contract and funds wire the same business day. Most producers are paying the input supplier inside 24 hours.
Underwriting that reads the marketing year, not the calendar month.
A generic underwriting engine fails an agricultural operation almost immediately. The four-month stretch with heavy outflows and near-zero deposits reads as a business collapsing. The single enormous October deposit reads as an anomaly rather than as the entire year's revenue. The $60K wire to a fertilizer dealer reads as distress. Our underwriters know the difference. They look for the patterns that tell the real story: an input-to-revenue relationship that holds across seasons; trailing twelve-month deposits that show a floor; storage and marketing behavior that suggests the operator is not forced to sell at harvest lows; and an NSF count that stays controlled through the heaviest spending months of the year.
We also calibrate to the operation type. A row-crop producer with revenue concentrated at harvest gets a term that spans the marketing year and a debit structure that eases through the growing season. A cattle feeder with rolling turns gets a position sized to the pen cycle. A dairy with continuous milk checks gets standard working capital sized to monthly deposits. An ag-services business — custom harvesting, spraying, hauling, or an equipment dealership — gets a structure timed to its service season, which often runs opposite to the producers it serves. Specialty crop, orchard, vineyard, and greenhouse operations each carry their own cycle, and we size to the one you actually run.
Agricultural segments we fund every week
Row-crop producers — corn, soybeans, wheat, cotton, sorghum, and rice. Cattle operations including cow-calf, stocker, and feedlot. Dairy operations and processing. Hog, poultry, and egg producers, including contract growers building or upgrading barns. Specialty crop, orchard, vineyard, and nursery operations. Greenhouse and controlled-environment growers. Custom harvesters running the wheat belt and custom applicators. Ag trucking and grain hauling. Grain elevators, handling, and storage. Farm equipment dealers and repair shops. Feed mills and ration suppliers. Irrigation and tile contractors. Agronomy and crop consulting services. Farm-to-table processors, packers, and value-added producers.
Common agricultural funding scenarios
A pre-pay discount on spring fertilizer expires in ten days and it is worth more than the cost of the capital to capture it, but the bank's operating note has not been renewed yet. We fund the input buy in 48 hours. A combine goes down in the middle of harvest and the repair — or the used replacement at the next auction — has to happen this week or the crop sits. We wire the funds before the window closes. Cattle come available at a favorable basis and the feed to carry them is a known cost against a known sale window. We fund the purchase and the feed. Rented ground comes open next door and the landlord wants the year's rent in advance to sign the lease. We fund the rent so the acres are secured. A crop insurance settlement is delayed past the point where the next season's inputs need buying. We bridge it. A producer stacked advances after a poor year and the daily debits now conflict with a revenue pattern that pays once. We consolidate into a position that matches the marketing calendar.
The pattern is consistent across all of it. Agriculture spends first and gets paid last, and the operations that survive the volatile years are the ones with capital available inside the window rather than after it.
